Christmas is just around the corner and there can be an increased demand for workers in the haulage and distribution sector,

HSE’s weekly digest explains that workers in the above industries are potentially vulnerable to the risk of musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) injuries from hazardous manual handling. This can include:

  • people lifting heavy parcels and chemicals around warehouses
  • delivery drivers moving products across the country

The HSE offer a step-by-step guide to manual handling at work which can support companies and help to minimise these risks.

The HSE also has advice for users and suppliers of agency, or temporary workers, as many of these are specifically employed for the festive period.

Milne Safety also offer Manual Handling Training at your company site.
